Today’s Menu: Cakes and Cookies
Baking is a great hobby and can be very therapeutic. There are so many different types of baking recipes you could try, but we want to talk about two specific ones: cakes and cookies. Cookies are easy to make because they only require one bowl and no mixer needed (great for those who don’t have much kitchen equipment). Cakes take a little more time, but the results are always worth it!
The Figtree provides readers with tips and tricks for baking cakes, cookies, breads, pies, and more! We provide step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow along with pictures for each recipe. Of course we also share recipes so our readers can try them out themselves in their own kitchen!
The first thing you need to do is gather your ingredients. For cakes, you’ll almost always be working with butter and sugar first (we recommend using a mixer for this step). Once the mixture has creamed together well, stop mixing it and add an egg followed by some vanilla extract if desired! Then slowly mix in all-purpose flour until the batter becomes dense but smooth.
For cookies , start by melting butter on low heat so that it doesn’t burn. Remove from stovetop as soon as melted; we want room temperature rather than warm liquid! Next combine dry ingredients: either white or brown sugar along with baking soda/powder and salt in one bowl then pour milk into another bowl before adding them both in gradually while stirring constantly . Stop once dough forms, then chill it in the fridge for a few hours before rolling and baking.
Cake recipes are great because people can make them with friends or family members to bond over, while cookie recipes allow bakers enough time to learn about their own skills at precise measuring of ingredients .
